Top 5 acne medication ads of 1974

Acne medication and youth magazines go together really well. We picked out our favourite five acne ads from popular youth mag Suosikkidating from 1974.

5. Axolon Tonic
Tonic? Doesn’t that sound like something you mix with vodka? Although who knows, maybe creative teens of the day managed to come up with multiple uses for this product. At least little Jack Osbourne is looking totally plastered.

4. Clearasil
Clearasil clearly went for the scientific approach back in the day. And they must have done something right since they are still around. Fun fact: Clearasil’s slogan today is “the Science of Looking Awesome”.

3. Camyna
Even terrorists can suffer from acne. We totally know the guy in the ad to be one of the founding members of Baader-Meinhof.

By the way, this is a cool T-shirt. And that’s some seriously old money.

2. Teensept
So… how are these people supposed to be teenagers? All we see is a 25 old year dude making moves on his mom. That’s not right.

1. Septo/Septo-Finn
Okay, we see what you did there Septo-Finn: Abba won the Eurovision song contest in 1974 with their song Waterloo, and you cleverly referred to this in you headline to promote Acne medication?

Well played, Septo-Finn, well played.
