DIY Moomin mug

Iittala-made Moomin mugs are nice, but did you know that you might end up paying as much as €25 a for a single mug? That’s insane.

That’s why we here at the Kasper Stromman Design Blog decided to create our own. 

If you thought our mug was just going to be a cheap knock off you’re of course badly mistaken. As a starting point we used the finest domestic earthenware available on the market, the Arabia Kesti.

Then we let our chief designer, Kasper Stromman himself loose on it. The maestro took his time.

And there we have it: an ultra rare Moomin mug, “Moomintroll’s surprise”.

But why so surprised, Moomintroll?

Well, you see, the reason the Moomintroll is so surprised is because he has ran into Muumeli, the illegitimate love child of Moominpappa and Mymble. Oops!

And this wouldn’t of course necessarily be a problem unless Muumeli hadn’t made his moves on Snork Maiden. Now, this is looking like trouble.

See? We didn’t just create a new Moomin mug; we created a whole new character.
