City of Oulu introduces new mascots
Earlier this week the City of Oulu rolled out their new mascots, “Oula”, “Ouliina” and “Ölövi”. The launch is part of a bigger rebranding of the city, which also includes the slogans “I bicycle Oulu” and “Oulu smarter than ever”.
“It is a good thing the craftmanship that went into the mascots shines through“ says City of Oulu press official Eila Vähäkuopus in a recent statement to Yle , “but they will need some further development as they won’t stay ball in the ball shape they are supposed to.”
Vähäkuopus also added that the mascots had only set the city back € 1,700.
Mascot designer Seija Mällinen likes to point out that she didn’t so much design the mascots as merely carried them out from a drawing given to her. She did get to add a fun hat for each individual character though.
“I want people to get happy by looking at them”, states Mällinen.
